Mumbai Central to Mumbai Airport

The Mumbai Central (formerly called as the Bombay Central railway station) is an extremely busy railway station of the Western Railway Service. It is the southernmost terminus in the city of Mumbai for Western Railway outstation trains. The Mumbai Central has trains scheduled regularly, going mostly to the north-western parts of India like the Shatabdi Express, Rajadhani Express and Golden Temple Mail. It is the fifth stoppage point, starting from the Chruchgate railway station on the Western suburban railway line. On the other hand, the Mumbai Airport which was earlier bifurcated in the Sahar Airport for international transit and Santa Cruz Airport for domestic transit, is now merged into what is called as the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport. It is the busiest airport in the Indian sub-continent in terms of passengers carried per year and second busiest in terms of traffic movements. It is connected to most of the major cities on the globe with a plethora of passenger, cargo and charter airlines operating on a regular basis.

Mumbai Central to Mumbai Airport by train

The different modes of transport and travel between the distance from Mumbai Central Railway station to Mumbai Airport are the railways, bus and taxi. In the case of the railways, there are no direct trains running between Mumbai Central and the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport. One has to come to Mumbai Central suburban railway line then catch a slow train stopping at all railway stations. One has to get down at either the Vile Parle or the Santacruz railway station as these are situated nearest to the Mumbai Airport. One can travel by an Autorickshaw from Vile parle Station (East) to the domestic airport. This is probably the cheapest and fastest mode of travel.

The approximate distance between the Ville Parle railway station (East) to the domestic terminal is 7 km i.e., 4.3 miles. In order to reach the international terminal of the Mumbai airport, one has to get down at the Andheri railway station (East) and then hire an autorickshaw to travel the remaining distance. By conservatice estimates, distance between the Andheri station and the international terminal is nearly 5 to 6 kilometers i.e., 3.1 to 3.7 miles. The train ticket should not cost more than Rs.8.

Mumbai Central to Mumbai Airport by Road

There are no direct buses from Mumbai Central Railway station to Mumbai Airport. One has to change buses and reach the Airport. To reach the International terminal of the Mumbai Airport the traveler can board a 30Limited BEST bus from the Mumbai Central station, get down at the Kurla bus depot and board bus number 365 or bus number 74 or 70 to reach the desired destination. To reach the domestic terminal one can get bus number 74 & 61 and get down at Mahim Bus station and board in bus number 321L. The other possible routes for domestic terminal are 30L, 66 and 166.

Travelling by taxi is more expensive. It may cost Rs. 120 minimum to Rs. 200 maximum depending on the time of travel. During peak hours it may take 1 to 2 hours to reach the destination.
