The capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow is called as the “city of the nawabs”.

Lucknow receives 101 cm of rainfall annually during these months. Weather of Lucknow during the winters is chilly. The winters start from October and lasts till February. The winter season is comparatively pleasant with the average temperature revolving around 11°C. It is the best time to visit this city. At times the mercury drops to about 5 °C making the weather very chilly.

Lucknow is very famous for its chikan work. Chikan is a very famous thread work that is done by the skilled craftsmen of Lucknow. It is combines with Zardosi (embroidery with gold and silver threads) and crystal work and embroidered on clothes for women, men, kids, mats, bed sheets, table mats and just about anything you can think of. They make great gifts and beautiful souvenirs.

If you are fond of jewellery, then Lucknow is the place to shop for gold and silver ornaments with wonderful filigree (metal ornamentation) and jadau (gem studded). Gadbadjhala is a bazaar where you will find out colourful jewellery, especially the huge jhumkas which are enviable possessions for every lady. Some of the major and famous shopping places in Lucknow are Aminabad, Kapoorthala, Hazratganj and Janpath.

Shopping in Lucknow is a good choice as markets here cater to the needs of all kinds of people. There are many markets in Lucknow.
