Day 01
Arrival at Amritsar station/airport our representative will meet and drops you to your hotel. After check in, full day leisure. In the evening visit to the Golden Temple during Palki Sahib, or the night ceremony, during which the Granth Sahib is carried from the main shrine in Hari Mandir to the Akal Takht. Day 02
Visit to Golden Temple
Golden temple is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in India. Considered as the ultimate place of the Sikh faith, the Golden temple of Amritsar attracts large number of devotees every year. Sikh devotees, for whom the Golden Temple is a symbol of freedom and spiritual independence, visit the Temple from all over the world to offer prayers. The Golden temple is also known as Harmandir Sahib, which means “the Temple of God”.
Next moving to Jalianwallah Bagh a historical monument that tells the sad story of mass killing during the independence movement in India, Jalianwallah Bagh is another must visit in Amritsar. Here lies the memorial of the martyrs of the 1919 massacre by British General Dyer. Presently the place also has a park.
Visit to India Pakistan Wagah border after Lunch
The Wagah Border flag ceremony is a popular tourist attraction and side trip from Amritsar, in Punjab India. The ceremony lasts for around 45 minutes in total. It starts with high patriotic spirits from both sides of the border. Soldiers march towards the gate at the border, which is thrown open when they reach there. The soldiers salute each other other and start lowering the flags.
The flags of both India and Pakistan are lowered at the same time. The soldiers retrieve and fold the flags, the gate slams shut, and a trumpet sounds the end of the ceremony. The soldiers then return with their country’s respective flag. Overnight stay at hotel
Day 03
Visit to Durgiana Mandir
Amritsar also houses a wonderful temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. Easily accessible from the Golden Temple, the Durgiana Mandir also has deities of Lakshmi and Narayana. Supposedly built during the 16th century AD, the temple lies in the middle of a medium sized lake giving it a wonderful overall view. The temple, a massive structure, was built on the style of the nearby Golden Temple.
Visit to Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum is situated in the middle of a beautiful garden named Ram Bagh, in Amritsar. The museum is named after Maharaja Ranjit Singh – one of the outstanding rulers of Punjab. On display are a fine collection of oil paintings, miniatures, coins, weapons and arms and amours. Also preserved here is the wreath placed by Queen Elizabeth.
Rest of the day Shopping
Amritsar is also famous for shopping and world renowned for its pickles, papads and blankets.
A number of shopping centres line the city, offering a variety of materials to shop for. The eloquently embroidered shawls (Phulkari), elegantly designed jootis (Shoes), lacquered wood work, traditional jewellery, woolen blankets, parandis (hair worn embellishment) and durries (embroidered carpets and bed-spreads) are the main things you should carry back home from Amritsar.
Besides, Amritsar is also well known for delicious Punjabi cuisines. You can taste it in any of the many restaurants in the city. The pickles of the area are very famous and easily available in most of the markets.
